IMTBike and the Freedom ride

29/10/2009 - The idea is to grab Europe’s attention to the hostage problem that still exists in Colombia, states Herbin Hoyos organizer and driving force behind the "Caravana por la libertad de los secuestrados" ( Ride for the freedom of the hostages). The Freedom Ride will take place from November 5 to November 16th where more than 60 motorcyclists will participate in a bike procession from Madrid to Vatican City.

Iberian Moto Tours (IMTBike) is proud to be collaborating with the Freedom Ride by making available 60 BMW motorcycles from its fleet to be used for this 5000kms (3000mi.) journey around Europe.

Hoyos says many bikers that will participate in the Freedom Ride have sold personal valuables, held raffles or bazaars to raise the money needed to join the Caravana, and that each biker brings to Europe his own personal story and motivating reasons to join the Caravana and fight for the freedom of the hostages.

Spanish president Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and Madrid Mayor Alberto Ruiz Gallardon will be present for the first leg of the procession out of Madrid. The Caravana will then head to Valencia and Barcelona before crossing into France and heading to Paris where the bikers will be met by French President Nicolas Sarkozy at the Arc de Triomphe. From Paris the Caravana will make stops in Lyon, Marseilles, Genoa, Florence and on to Rome and Vatican City where they have been granted an audience with Pope Benedict XVI and will ask him to lead an international movement to free the hostages that have been held for so long in Colombia.
